After a quick layover in Chicago and then Frankfurt, Germany, we arrived
in Zurich, Switzerland. It was obvious that things were different right away!
We couldn't read any of the signs or understand anything we heard over the
loudspeaker. I'm glad that the guy who picked us up, Remo by name, was holding a
sign with our name on it or we might have wandered around Zurich for hours!
He brought us to our new "home" at the Dätwil hospital.
Yes, Hospital. With a dog. In a single room with a cot-sized bed.
Obviously this wasn't well thought out.
He did seem a little surprised that I brought my wife with me, but I know
for sure that I told my new boss. There was apparently a little mix-up.

When we first got here we didn't know anyone.
It wasn't fun believe me! Our first apartment was so pathetic that we simply
refuse to put a picture here! Instead, here is a picture of us at our second (and
probably last) apartment.
It's a simple one-room affair, though large, and quite cozy at the top of a hill near a
forest. It's a bit far from civilization for our taste, but much better than before! |
| When we arrived we didn't know anyone or where to go or how to get things
done. To top it all off, our German wasn't that great and the Swiss don't speak it
anyway! See our Switzerland page for more details... |
| Anyway, we arrived okay and are eating fine! |
